Though the remodeling of the Puerto Vallarta Malecón is one of the most important tasks being undertaken at present, work was suspended in the downtown area at 3 pm on September 15th in anticipation of the city's Independence Day festivities and holiday weekend.
Currently, construction on the sidewalks in front of the businesses that line the Malecón is under way, and the sidewalks will be adorned with traditional rugs. The bases for the sculptures are being laid in order to bring the walking tour to life, the cobblestone for the two-lane avenue that runs along the Malecón is almost finished, and the detail work on the planter boxes from Calle 31 de Octubre to the lighthouse is in progress.
Accompanied by City Council members Gloria Palacios and Areli Guerrero Flores Ponce, the Municipal Trustee, Fernando Castro Rubio and other City officials, Puerto Vallarta Mayor Salvador González Reséndiz inspected the work being carried out at such a rapid pace on the boardwalk and the intersections.
Earlier this week, crews began removing all of the materials, tools, equipment and fencing in the downtown area, with the aim to please and delight the tourists and Vallartenses expected to attend the Independence Day celebrations.
To further ensure the safety of those who are flocking to the downtown area over the long weekend, grids were placed over storm drains on streets running perpendicular to the waterfront.
Work on the Malecón was suspended at 3 pm on September 15th and will not resume until next Monday, so that visitors can enjoy safe and easy access to the various establishments along the Malecón over the long holiday weekend. by banderasnews.com
